Water is becoming one of our most precious resources. We pay money to buy purified bottled forms in stores, some countries struggle to have access to a basic clean source of it and climate change is causing it to disapper from places like California. Many of these problems were created by humans and the answer to solve those problems will also need to be created by humans. However I wonder, as we work to improve our environment through science, can we ever get back to its original beauty. This work creates a section of water that is made out of synthetic stones.
In the creation of this work, I was also influenced by a recent article on Bloomberg.com contemporary art was described as the new gold since it now stores wealth better than the precious metal. While art has always been something held a different value to me than a monetary one, I wonder how others view art when they see it on a wall.
